Happy Owners

"Where competitors sell generalist reproductions or fragile originals, Trestlewood owns a single, specific era — with historical integrity and modern durability."

Every piece built to last another 80 years.

What Sets Trestlewood Apart

The craft behind every piece

We studied museum archives, private collections, and period furniture catalogs to get the details right. Every joint, profile, and finish is intentional.

Period-Accurate Designs

Each model is drawn from documented Depression-era and Art Deco sources — tapered legs, inlay motifs, wartime utility forms — verified against museum records and period catalogs.

American-Made Hardwood

We source solid American hardwoods — white oak, black walnut, maple — and build every stool in the USA. No flat-pack, no overseas shortcuts, no particle board.

Antique Character, Fair Price

Originals from the 1930s–40s fetch $2,000–$5,000 at auction — when you can find one intact. Trestlewood gives you the same character and soul for a fraction of that, with a finish that won't crack in five years.

Built for Real Rooms

Interior decorators and Americana collectors choose Trestlewood to anchor period-style rooms. Each piece ships ready to place — no assembly, no finishing, just set it down and live with it.

How a Trestlewood piece is made

1

Pick your era & style

Browse our catalog of 80+ authenticated designs spanning early Depression-era simplicity, mid-30s Art Deco flair, and lean wartime utility forms. Each listing shows the source period and design notes.

2

We build it by hand in the USA

Our craftsmen cut, join, and finish your stool using solid American hardwood and traditional joinery. We apply period-correct stains and — where specified — hand-tufted upholstery in era-authentic fabrics.

3

It arrives ready to use

Every piece ships fully assembled, wrapped for protection, and includes a certificate of design provenance. Set it in your room and it looks like it's been there since 1938.

The Collection

Three eras. One standard of craft.

Whether you're furnishing a living room, staging a period interior, or adding to an Americana collection, there's a Trestlewood for you.

1930

Early Depression Era

Utility & Restraint

Simple forms, honest joints, minimal ornament. The footstool as functional statement — built when every board counted. Models include the Farmhouse Taper and the Workman's Low Stool.

1935

Art Deco Peak

Geometry & Glamour

Stepped inlay panels, fluted legs, bold silhouettes. The era when American furniture dared to be theatrical. Models include the Deco Fan Ottoman and the Chevron Trestle.

1942

Wartime Utility

Strength Over Style

Material restrictions forced genius. Lean forms, robust joinery, zero waste. Models include the Victory Footrest and the Home Front Square — quietly the most durable pieces we make.

"I've been hunting for a period-correct Depression-era footstool for three years. Trestlewood nailed it — and it's built better than most originals I've handled."
— Margaret T., Interior Decorator, Nashville
"The Art Deco Chevron sits in my reading room alongside actual 1930s pieces. Guests can't tell the difference — except mine doesn't wobble."
— Harold B., Americana Collector, Cincinnati
"Knowing it's made in the USA matters to me. Trestlewood is the only place I've found that takes the history seriously AND the craftsmanship seriously."
— Patricia W., homeowner, Asheville NC
